For many years there were very few Judaic designs available to needleworkers. That's why I designed "MAZAL und BROCHE". This charted design book is a good choice if you are beginning to explore Judaic themes or have a continuing interest in Jewish art. "Mazal und Broche" is Yiddish meaning "luck and blessing". It is used by diamond dealers in the New York City Diamond District when a deal is concluded. To increase the range of Hebrew aleph-bets , I've charted one from 5th Century GALILEE. I use this one a great deal in my commission work. As you see, it has a very romantic feeling. Recently, I accepted a commission to embroider Hebrew and English onto antique fabric. The stitch count was 80 threads to the inch! For that project I designed the Hebrew and English lettering called MICAH. Finally, there is BOAZ, an English alphabet that has the look of Hebrew. |
