ARTS & CRAFTS TILES

My studio is a 75 year old California Bungalow. It was built near the end of the Arts & Crafts period of the early 20th Century.
The A & C style is both architectural and decorative and while A & C and bungalow homes are evident in virtually every community in our country, the revival of the style has concentrated mainly on furniture and decorative pottery.
As a needleworker, I wanted designs I could use to give A & C flavor to the studio and my home. Home Decorative Arts, as needlework was called early in this century, drew on natural subjects and used a lovely palette of colors.
Because tile and pottery were such hallmarks of the era, I chose to design this collection in tile form so you may mix and match to create your own A &C works.
There are flora and fauna, mottoes from the period, borders, and the calligrafied alphabet used by the premier Arts & Crafts architects (the Greene brothers) to notate their home sketches. Also included is a short history of the Arts & Crafts Movement and sample layouts for designing your own needlework tile pieces.

Where to start? Try a simple but elegant "Home Sweet Home" for your kitchen or entryway...a motto for your favorite remodeler...a flora and fauna sampler for your powder room...or an affirmation for your workroom to inspire you day after day...the possibilities are endless.
